Tess, Antonio & Baby Frank – A Calm, Candid Family Photography Session at Home in Bristol

There’s nothing I love more than photographing people in their own space. No awkward posing, no weird backdrops — just them, in their own little world.

Tess and Antonio welcomed me into their Bristol home to capture life with their brand new babe, Frank and honestly… it was bloody beautiful. These three were so calm, so connected, and so in sync it felt like they’d been doing the whole parenting thing for years.

Their house was flooded with the most gorgeous light that makes everything feel slow and warm. Frank was just a few weeks old and already the most chilled little guy. A few sleepy stretches and little wriggles, totally content in the arms of two people completely in love with him.

The colours they wore were perfect — Soft blues, gentle tones, nothing too matchy, but all the tones that make skin look dreamy and calm. But more importantly it was stuff they were comfortable in. It gave the photos this timeless feel, like they could’ve been taken yesterday or ten years ago. I always say blues hit differently in photos, and this session proved it again.

You could tell Tess and Antonio had already found their rhythm. That calm, unspoken teamwork you see with couples who are totally in tune — passing him back and forth without a word, reading each other in glances. It was magic to watch. They moved through the space like they’d been doing this forever.

And Yeah this was a newborn/family shoot but it wasn’t just about the baby — although Frank was the star of the show, obviously. I wanted to make space for them too. The way they looked at each other when they thought no one was watching, the softness between them that didn’t need posing or direction. Just two people in love, riding this wild new wave together.

We didn’t rush. No agenda. Just took it nice and slow, and captured the quiet moments, lots of cuddles and a lot of staring at this new tiny human they made. Honestly, these are my favourite kinds of sessions. The ones where it feels like nothing much is happening, but you look back and realise it was everything.

"I really enjoyed our photoshoot with Holly. You can tell she is a mother and doula as well as a photographer because she really 'gets' the whole situation and is incredibly calm, easygoing and patient. She captured some beautiful, natural shots that we will cherish forever and I would recommend her to capture this incredibly special time with you and your little one."

Huge thanks to Tess, Antonio, and baby Frank for inviting me into this beautiful little chapter of your story. You brought the calm, the connection, and a whole lot of love — and I’m so stoked I got to freeze it all in time for you.
