Sian & Jay. Two teachers, two big hearts, one seriously stunning wedding at Canada Lodge in Cardiff. I was second shooting with the awesome Jon Warr, and from the moment we arrived, I knew this day was going to be amazing. Think timeless modern vibes, emotional moments, and a venue straight out of a dream.

The Vibe: Modern Elegance with a Side of Family Feels

Sian & Jay’s day was all about that modern elegance. Clean whites, lush greens, and a venue so stunning it almost looked like something out of a fairytale. Canada Lodge is like a hidden gem, set right on the water, offering up views that made every photo pop. But honestly? It wasn’t just the styling or the views. It was the people! The energy. The kind of love you don’t need to force because it’s just there, in every hug, every smile, every moment.

From the beautiful readings by their close friends to the heartwarming notes from their students about what love is, it was clear that this day was a big deal. And don’t even get me started on their two-year-old nephew! I mean i'm a sucker for cute kids but he was the VIP of the day, no question.

Heartfelt Moments That Hit You Right in the Feels

There were so many emotional gems during this day, but a few really stood out. First off, the notes from their students – hand-written thoughts on what love means. You can imagine how sweet and hilarious those were. Then there was Sian’s nephew, just two years old and completely adored by the whole family. He was a big part of their story, and I made sure to catch every silly and sweet moment with him.

Canada Lodge: Where Wedding Dreams Come True

If you’ve haven't been to Canada Lodge yet, it’s time to add it to your list. It has this rustic yet modern charm that makes for jaw-dropping photos.

The getting-ready cabins were perfect for the bridal party, giving everyone space to breathe and prep without feeling rushed. But the real magic? The venue itself. Set on a beautiful lake with views that make you feel like “we could be in Canada or a Netflix wedding special”, seriously, every spot was a potential photo op. It was amazing and I hope to shoot there again soon!

The Photos: Making Sian & Jay Feel Right at Home

Ok so, I won’t lie—Sian & Jay were a little nervous in front of the camera (which, let’s be real, who isn’t on their wedding day?). But that’s why Jon and I were a good fit. Our whole vibe is keeping it chill. No awkward poses, no stiff smiles, just real, candid moments. It was all about making them feel comfortable, letting the magic happen naturally. And judging by their feedback, I think we nailed it. They were so grateful for how relaxed we kept it, which made for some seriously beautiful, unposed shots.

Let’s Talk About Sian’s Letters (Cue the Tears)

Here’s the bit that really got me – during the reception, Sian had handwritten letters for every single guest. Not generic “thanks for coming” ones – proper, thoughtful, tear jerking ones. Watching everyone read them? Goosebumps. But Nan’s reaction? Game over. I was hiding behind my camera pretending I wasn’t crying. Spoiler: I was.

Real Love. Real Laughs. Real Good Times.

Sian & Jay’s day wasn’t about big flashy moments or magazine worthy poses. It was about connections. Honest, hilarious, full-heart love. The kind you can feel oozing out their pores. You could feel it as they glanced at people from across the room. When the nephew climbs up for a cuddle mid-speech. That’s the stuff I live to capture – raw, un-perfectly perfect magic.

Massive congrats to the newlyweds. Sian & Jay, you absolute babes – thank you for letting me tag along and document your day. You brought the style, the love, and the feels. Wishing you a lifetime of lie-ins, giggles, and maybe a cheeky glass of wine when the school term’s done.
